Trade Paperback. Condition: Near fine. Berni Wrightson; Michele Wrightson (illustrator). First Edition. The graphic book version of the horror anthology Creepshow, also released as a film by George Romero (director of Night of the Living Dead) and Stephen King. This was the first graphic novel written by Stephen King. Illustrated by horror-comics master Berni (or Bernie) Wrightson. A tribute by two top horror storytellers to the 1950s E.C. horror comics like Tales from the Crypt that inspired them. The original 1982 printing is hard to find in nice condition, as the cover stock is a bit thin and the glued binding is a bit weaker than comparable graphic novels of the era. First edition (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1 on the copyright page). A very good to near fine copy. Bottom of the spine bumped; color loss to the rear cover near the spine, minor wear to the corners.

First published as a serial in Heavy Metal magazine in 1982, it was subsequently published in graphic novel format in France, Spain, Denmark, and the Netherlands just to name a few. Image Comics also published multiple editions. This Limited Deluxe Edition Hardcover edition was printed in the Netherlands in 1997. It reprints the interior artwork very nicely on high quality paper in Glorious Black & White. The text is all in English. This copy is also signed by the editor, Rob van Bavel! Bernie Wrightson was an American artist, known for co-creating the Swamp Thing, his adaptation of the novel Frankenstein illustration work, and for his other horror comics and illustrations, which feature his trademark intricate pen and brushwork. Wrightson began his career as an illustrator for The Baltimore Sun newspaper in 1966. In 1968, he was hired by DC Comics and was a regular artist on the House of Mystery and House of Secrets horror titles. Wrightson and writer Len Wein created Swamp Thing in House of Secrets #92 (July 1971). The character soon received its own monthly series, for which Wrightson drew the first ten issues. In 1974, Wrightson began working for Warren Publishing magazines. Wrightson illustrated adaptations of works by well-known horror writers, including "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe and "Cool Air" by H. P. Lovecraft. He drew comic book adaptations of Stephen King's screenplay for Creepshow in 1982, which led to several more collaborations with King. Wrightson spent several years creating an illustrated edition of Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein, which was released in 1983. Later in his career, Wrightson provided concept art for various films and television series. Bernie Wrightson's work in comics and animation has won him world-wide recognition and a "cult" fan following. Of which I am one. 64 pages. Size: 9" x 11" (220mm x 280mm). ISBN: 9073508150. Paperback. Condition: Fine. Neal Adams, Vaughn Bode, John Byrne, Richard Corben, Frank Frazetta, Barry Windsor-Smith, Bernie Wrightson (illustrator). Soft Cover. Marvel Comics 1981-1984. 1st Edition. Book condition: VF - Very Fine. Full Colour illustrations. 10 issues of Epic Illustrated in very fine condition. Includes issues: Vol. 1: #7, #10-#14, #16, #18, #22, #23 published between August 1981 and April 1984. epic ILLUSTRATED was a comics anthology in magazine format published in the United States by Marvel Comics. Similar to the US-licensed comic book magazine Heavy Metal, it allowed explicit content to be featured, unlike the traditional American comic books of that time bound by the restrictive Comics Code Authority, as well as offering its writers and artists ownership rights and royalties in place of the industry-standard work for hire contracts. The series lasted 34 issues from Spring 1980 to February 1986. The anthology featured heroic fiction and genre stories, primarily fantasy and science fiction, in a broad range of styles. Established mainstream-comics talents such as John Buscema, Jim Starlin, John Byrne, and Terry Austin were featured, as well as such independent-press creators as Wendy Pini and The Studio's Jeffrey Jones, Michael Kaluta, Barry Windsor-Smith, and Bernie Wrightson. Archie Goodwin commissioned stories by many new artists, including Stephen R. Bissette, Pepe Moreno, Jon J Muth, Rick Veitch and Kent Williams. The full-color magazine format allowed for a broader range of color than the traditional three-color printing process, and many of the stories, and all the covers, were painted. Fantasy artists who did not normally work in the comics field, such as Richard Corben, Frank Frazetta, The Brothers Hildebrandt, and Boris Vallejo contributed covers. 98 pages. Size: 8" x 11" (210mm x 280mm). (4 EPIC10).
