He served for a time as refuge manager for the US Biological Survey at the Okefenokee. In the 1920's and 30's Greene kept detailed notes on bird observations in the Atlanta Georgia area. From these note he published "Birds of the Atlanta, Georgia, Area", one of the first annotated bird checklists for the state, and was co-author of the first formal checklist for Georgia birds, published in 1945. He came to the United States when he was just 12 years old. He went on to co-found the San Francisco chapter of the AIGA, including serving a nine-year board position as design historian. In 2001 Reoutt received the AIGA Fellowship award for "personal and professional contributions to raising the standards of excellence within our design community.".
