Vintage borderless reference photograph from the French version of the 1955 French-German film, showing actor Gil Vidal. Based on Peter von Mendelssohn's 1932 novel "Douloureuse Arcadie." While staying at a lakeside boarding school in Bavaria, a young man from Argentina falls in love with a ghostly beauty living in a mansion across the lake. Shot in both French and German versions, each with a different cast, except for Marianne Hold in the lead role. Set in Bavaria, shot on location at Hohenschwangau Castle and Schloss Fuschl in Salzberg. 7 x 5.25 inches. Very Good plus, with a light diagonal crease on the top portion of the photograph.

Based on Peter von Mendelssohn's 1935 novel "Douloureuse Arcadie." Shot in both French and German versions, each with a different cast, with the exception of Marianne Hold in the lead role. Director Julien Duvivier's other films include "Pépé le Moko" (1937), "Maria Chapdelaine" (1934), and "Panique" (1946) Set and shot on location in Bavaria. Photos range from 3.25 x 4.5 inches to 7 x 9.5 inches, several with small white borders. Very Good plus, with light curling, and a few faint creases.
