This epistolary parish history of Barthomley, written by its former rector Rev. Edward Hinchliffe, details the village's local topography, Domesday history, genealogy, church monuments, customs, agriculture and social life. Each of the letters are addressed to Hinchcliffe's eldest son. In a quarter crushed morocco library rebind, with reference notation in gilt to the tail of the spine. Grained cloth boards. Externally, with light rubbing to the extremities and white marks to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with toning to the title page and the occasional spot or handling mark. Numerous reference ink impressions to the first and last few pages.
