His early colour paintings are reproduced, plus black & white drawings from his early sketchbooks. Hahndorf, in the Adelaide Hills, is the oldest surviving Australian German settlement, known for its German heritage and artisan shops. The South Australian writer Colin Thiele provides the historical narrative text.
