Catholic Archbishop Aloysius Stepinac was imprisoned by the post-war Yugoslav Communist regime following a show trial in 1946. Pope Pius XII elevated him to statu…s of Cardinal in 1952 while he was still under house arrest, and Pope John Paul II declared him a Martyr with Beatification in 1998. The Archbishop of Dublin, in his foreword to this book, while stating that "The case of Archbishop Stepinac is very complex and very simple." concludes that in his trial and unjust condemnation, the Archbishop "is but another symbol of the unending persecution of the One, True Church." Some dusting and wear to covers, otherwise a very good copy without any library stamps, inscriptions, or other markings. Images available on request.
