Bound in sideways as f/p to v I is the engr frontispiece by J Sympson (29 x 21 cm, folded, image trimmed at head) from John Anstis's 1724 folio edition of a quite different 'Liber Niger', the 16C Register of the Garter. Repr of the 2nd edn, 1771; the Liber Niger Parvus, probably compiled in the early 13C by Alexander de Swereford (Gross-Graves 3006), first published by Hearne in 1728.…
