Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Ihre Karte vom 31. August 09 habe ich nachgesandt erhalten, da ich mich seit zwei Monaten auf Studienreise in Tirol befinde. Gern komme ich Ihrem Wunsche nach und übersende Ihnen den eigenhändigen Namenszug in der Unterschrift dieser Zeilen [.]". - Founding his own studio in Berlin in 1869, as well as the "Verein für Original-Radirung" in 1885, Eilers created popular engravings and etchings, including reproductions of masterpieces by Titian, Hans Holbein the younger and Peter Paul Rubens. - Small creases near upper right corner. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
