Chatfield, who entered Yale in the fall of 1936 and recounts his impressions of Gundelfinger as "a person who had come to Yale and had found undergraduate mores too loose and licentious for his sensibilities and, cracking under the strain, had retired to his home in Sewickley, Pa., where a family fortune enabled him to bombard successive generations of Yale undergraduates with his abusive and monitory pamphlets." Rare hardback copyright 1960; VG in G+ dj inscribed by author on ffep; this bizarre work was the final project of the Pittsburgh area eccentric and Yale graduate who produced ".mailings from Sewickley, Pennsylvania, signed by one George Frederick Gundelfi…nger. These appeared in the Yale Station post office boxes with fair regularity. But, despite having been professionally printed and often running to many pages of text, they were impenetrable in their meaning. What they seemed to be saying was that one's mental powers could be notably increased if one practiced sublimate pumping regularly. The practice, as far as one could fathom it, was masturbation without orgasm. Gundelfinger asserted that it was so beneficial that no roommate could logically object. If there were any other messages, they did not come through"; a rabid anti-communist and critic of the Roosevelt administration, Gundelfinger served time in prison for sending obscene materials through the mails; text block tight and square; dj preserved in mylar jacket; 152 clean pages with section of glossy photos bx19.
