Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Part of The Asian Library. Extremely rare book is also extremely interesting. Though a book of only 224 small pages, comparing this account of Sindh (now a province of Pakistan) to the lengthy Wikipedia entry on the same subject is like comparing five of Shakespeare's greatest plays to the remake of the Little Shop of Horrors. This book is crammed with fascinating insights into the twists and turns of Sindh's history and what gave its people their character, while Wikipedia is dry as dust. Too bad many young people seem to have gone from reading books to reading Wiki entries. End of editorial. As for condition, this book is standard Good for a 90-year-old book. At some point, someone rested a cup on its front cover, leaving a light circular stain. But the baby blue boards still look nice, and the applique pictorial label still does as well (featuring an elephant's head). The binding has held up well and foxing is very rare. There is some overall discoloration of pages from age, but the main defect is some underlining in pen or in pencil in various parts of the book, which at least is done intelligently. Happy to supply photo if needed. Will only ship to North America. 224 pages.
