Description: Publishers blue/gray cloth hardbound, gilt/black title/design stamped/embossed on spine/front boards, frontispiece portrait opposite title page separated by fine rice paper, text profusely illustrated with full to quarter black/white plates throughout; e.g. sketch prints, photos, fold out map. Dimensions: 9 3/4 x 7 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches each volume. Condition: Good - ; bindings a little shaken, volume I's half-title* and dedication page* are detached, cloth is sporadically worn, spine (sunned/soiled and rubbed, and fraying at extremities), boards are in better surface condition (though rubbed in a few areas, a few edges heavily worn, most corner tips show exposed inner board), end papers a little foxed (text unaffected), clean light age-toned interior pages, square spines, *loosely inserted pages curled at leaf edges with a few fine short tears. A good set.
