Dick Groat was the National MVP in 1960, when he was also the batting champ, hitting .325 with 186 hits. Groat finished his career with 2,123 hits. He led NL shortstops in double plays five times putouts 4 times and assists twice. Was an All-American basketball player at Duke as well as playing baseball. Has dark blue boards with gold lettering on the spine. Has a gift inscription in red ink dated '78, otherwise the book is in very good- condition. Has lots of black and white photos of Dick Groat, his double play partner-Bill Mazeroski, manager Danny Murtaugh, pitcher Bob Friend, plus of Groat as a basketball player at Duke.
