Hardcover. Condition: Good Plus. Gregg, a chartered secretary and accountant, was a British mystery writer popular during the "golden age" of mystery (about 1920 to 1960). "The Murder on the Bus," originally published in the UK in 1930, was Gregg's third book and featured Scotland Yard Inspector Cuthbert Higgins, a large-sized detective who doesn't dodge a fight and is not afraid of breaking the rules. At the same time, Higgins is a thoughtful cop with a flair for unraveling complicated mysteries. This copy is from the American first edition, probably a first printing, issued by Mason Publishing in 1937. About 5 1/2 x 8 inches in red cloth-covered boards with a black, one-inch-square, graphic design in the center of the front cover and black lettering on spine. Sorry, no dustjacket. This is a well-worn, often-read copy with worn edges, bumped corners and spine ends that are frayed and bumped, Spine's color has faded, text edges are lightly soiled. That said, book is complete, clean and unmarked. Binding is firm, interior and exterior hinges intact. Not ex-library, not remaindered. No dog earred or torn pages. Makes a decent reading copy of this work by a "golden-age" lesser light who nevertheless managed to write over forty mysteries between 1930 and 1960.
