The exhibit The "Art" of Diplomacy and this catalog were produced by the Educational Programs Staff of the National Archives and Records Service, General Services Administration. Frederic A. Greenhut served as coordinator. The art of diplomacy can be construed to mean the fine craftsmanship which produced documents and three-dimensional objects used in diplomacy which are works of art. It was to this meaning that the National Archives turned in assembling the collection to illustrate the 'Art' of Diplomacy. An exhibit composed of the documents and objects illustrated in the following pages as mounted in the National Archives Building in April 1971. Most of the documents are records in the National Archives. Gifts to Presidents from heads of state are from the Presidential Libraries and the White House. In descriptions of entries, measurements are given in inches with height before width unless otherwise indicated. For documents the first dimensions given are those of the binding, for skippets diameters are given.
