Condition: Very Good. Thick silver paper covered boards with blue text and a faux blue pill inserted to the front cover. This book accompanied the week-long exhibition AREA at The Hole in November 2013. Some minor wear to boards, but otherwise a clean copy with no previous owners' names or other defacements. Scarce. 9.75 x 12.25 in (24.5 x 31.5 cm).

Facsimile reprint, reduced in size from the 1879 edition. Number 380 of 1000 copies. Oblong, 19 x 12.75" portfolio. Gilt-stamped blue paper boards, unprinted black leatherette spine. 47 pp. including map with the 20 reproduction watercolor plates in paper chemise attached inside front cover. Illustrated with line drawings in the text and followed by full-page "Provisional Map Showing the Geographical Distribution of the Game Fishes of Eastern North America." Plates measure 18.5 x 12.5" overall with images themselves being approximately 13.25 x 9.25". Vividly reproduced prints of fish in natural settings in and by the water. Portfolio hinges starting, chip to upper front corner of spine, lower left corners (front and back) lightly bumped, and top plate subtly discolored, presumably from binding materials. Still, very good or better.

New York. Winchester Press. 1972. Limited Edition. Book number 23 of 1000 copies published. Folio (12 1/2 x 19). 48 pp. including a map showing the southeastern states and their coastal areas. With 20 large color plates showing a variety of fish species with descriptive text in the lower margin of each plate. The plates are laid-in a folding pocket on the inside of the book and the text by G. Brown Goode is bound in on the opposite side of the book; it includes a black and white image of each fish species described. This edition is a facsimile printing of the rare and really expensive 1879 edition. The book is bound in blue leatherette spine and blue cloth with gilt titles and a gilt Bass on the front cover. The book and the plates are as nice as you'll likely see. It's all in fine condition.
