Jacques Godechot, al presentar las ponencias del coloquio, dice textualmente: "Todos los historiadores presentes en el coloquio coincidieron en calificar de régimen feudal un tipo de régimen que se caracterizaba por una forma particular de propiedad, con frecuencia por la servidumbre y siempre por el pago de los llamados censos feudales y señoriales. El coloquio mostró las similitudes y las diferencias entre el régimen feudal en Francia y el que existía en la misma época en todos los países del mundo occidental, América y Rusia incluidas. Las diferencias, a veces muy importantes, explican, en parte, los caracteres que revistieron en estos diferentes Estados los movimientos revolucionarios.
