INSTRUCTION BOOK AND PARTS LISTS INTRODUCTION New and improved Metropolitan machines of the 900 class are designed to operate continuously at high speed, and to be as trouble-free as it is possible to m…ake modern industrial sewing machines. To accomplish this, great care has been exercised in the selection of the proper materials from which to build the machines. The most modern engineering principles and manufacturing methods have been employed in the construction of the parts, the assembling of the machines and their final preparation for shipment to customers. Steel drop forgings of the finest materials are used wherever possible. Replaceable main bearings and bushings are incorporated and a well balanced looper driving mechanism of the eccentric and lever type is employed. Reinforced feed rocker frame operating in replaceable bushings and self-aligning stitch regulating connections have been designed for use in the new and improved machines. Semi-automatic or reservoir type of lubricating system insuring complete lubrication to all parts under all manufacturing conditions have been adopted. The floating power principle of installation whereby the machine rests on cork inserts secured to a metal oil pan, is also utilized, thus reducing vibration and noise to a minimum. The rotary drive, an exclusive Metropolitan feature consisting of three efficient connections concealed in the head of the machine, is used in all new and improved models. This drive has proved to be the most powerful, simple and durable yet devised for sewing machines. All of these features and many others make a superior sewing machine of which we are justly proud. 54 pages.
