I…ncludes taped-in card inscription from previous owner whose niece, Porge, is responsible for the illustrations and "[getting the cookbook] together." Ruth L. Gaskins collected these recipes from her neighbors and family in Alexandria, Virginia as a fundraiser for "Alexandria's Negro Citizens" in 1968. The book was picked up by Simon & Schuster in the same year Gaskins released it. This is the self-published first edition.
