Add to basketContemporary decorative vellum; central gilt lettered title on vellum surrounded by gilt fillets and red fillets, encasing a rectangular decorative gilt and blue ornamented frame; spine flat with five gilt filleted horizontal bands; creating four compartments with elaborate central gilt design; with matching red-blue-white marbl…ed pasted and free endpapers., The two Italian brothers Antonio D'Alessandri (L'Aquila, 1818 - Rome, 1893) and Paolo Francesco D'Alessandri (L'Aquila, 1824 - Rome, 1889), who held a photographic studio in Rome, named "Fratelli D'Alessandri", and first located in the 'Via del Babuino', then the 'Via del Corso' and finally the 'Via Condotti', were established photographers in Italy in the nineteenth century and in many respects marked the history of Italian photography. Photos of their collections are kept at the 'International Museum of Photography and Film at George Eastman House of Rochester, New York, the oldest museum in the world dedicated to photography. The two brothers first received the permits to portray Pontiff Pius IX at the Vatican. The fame of the two photographers quickly spread among the Roman nobility and among the highest prelates. The Sovereigns of Naples in exile were added to the list of clients, and soon the requests came from abroad. The brothers in 1862 to photograph the camps of the papal zodiacs and then, in 1867, on the battlefield of Mentana to play the role of the first in Italy of true and their own war reporter., Size : Oblong folio (250mm x 330, Illustrated with 60 albumen black and white historical photographs of Rome of approx. 1880s pasted on thick paper. , P. 30 leaves. A fine example of this important album. The photographs are all views of historical sites and different areas of Rome and not of statutes.

Antonio…D'Alessandri (1818-1893 ) y Paolo Francesco D'Alessandri (1824-1889 ) fueron dos fotógrafos italianos que desarrollaron su actividad principalmente en Roma. Conocidos por su técnica de colodión humedo , trabajaron sobre todo con clientes pertenecientes a la nobleza romana y a altos prelados vaticanos . Los dos fotógrafos, que fotografiaron la toma de Roma , son considerados los primeros fotoperiodistas de guerra en Italia. Fotos de sus colecciones se conservan en el Museo Internacional de Fotografía y Cine en George Eastman House en Rochester (Nueva York) , el museo más antiguo del mundo dedicado a la fotografía.
