Add to baskethardcover. Condition: Very Good. Limited Edition. #642/1500, signed by the artist, Howard Simon, who drew and cut the duotone woodblock illustrations. The slipcase has old tape remnants around the chipped spine label, edge chipping and darkening. The burnt orange buckram cloth boards are near fine with the slightest rubbing, interior fine condition. Francois Villon (1431-1463) is the best known French poet of the Late Middle Ages. He was involved in criminal behavior and had multiple encounters with law enforcement authorities. All orders packed with care, dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011. Signed by Illustrator.

T.e.g. Housed in a brown cardboard slipcase with cloth top & bottom edges and a paper spine label. Illustrated with 26 monochrome woodcuts by Howard Simon, plus 2 additional woodcuts not called for. One is a laid-in gray toned woodcut (5" x 3-1/2") on tissue paper, limited to 1/30 and signed in pencil by Howard Simon. The second woodcut, also laid-in, is on a folded sheet of special paper. that accompanies "Ballad to His Mistress" and differs from the image that is bound into the book. This edition of "The Lyrics of Francois Villon" is limited to 1500 numbered copies (this is #380), signed on the limitation leaf by Howard Simon. Spine of book is somewhat darkened and the bottom surface of the slipcase has a 1-1/2" tear to the cloth and is missing a small chip. #43 of The Limited Editions Club Bibliography.
