This book explores the development and significance of Acts of Christian Martyrs in early Christian literature, written between the second and fourth centuries CE. Acts of Christian Martyrs were written accounts of the trials, suffering, and deaths of early Christians, and this book delves into the literary forms and conventions used in these accounts, offering valuable insights into the history of Christianity, the nature of Roman imperial power, and the social and cultural dynamics of the early Christian communities. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the major themes and ideas explored in these Acts, including the role of martyrdom in the formation of Christian identity, the construction of Christian heroes and villains, and the development of Christian ideas about death, suffering, and the afterlife. Buff Wrapper. Condition: Fine. Second edition. A loose manuscript which sits in a plain buff wrapper which has as its title : "Tabluae I" . My google translates comes up with this clumsy translation: Specimens of the Greek manuscripts Vatican. Repeated and enlarged edition. I think "repeated" is probably "revised." The contents are photo duplications of this very early Greek Codex. The protective wrapper is now torn though still providing protection. The contents remain fine. All of the introductory material is written in Latin while the Codex is in Greek. Fine.
