Cincinnati.Elizabeth Haven Appleton (1815-1890) was an artist and educator, active in Cincinnati (Hamilton) from about 1849 to 1875. She was born October 16, 1815, in Liverpool, England adn taught at Lyman Harding's Femail Seminary, Cincinnati from 1849 to 1855. She then established a school of her own, Miss Appleton's School for Girls, which she ran until 1875. From 1876 to 1886, she was the librarian of the Ohio Historical and Philosophical Society, and later she lectured professionally on artistic and literary subjects. She died in Cincinnati on November 15, 1890.
