Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Dust Jacket. First Edition. Dated 1904 on the title page. Published September, 1904 on the copyright page/verso of frontispiece. Vintage gift inscription dated 1905. No further copyright dates as is usally found on reprints, so assumed to be a First Printing. Frontispiece illustration detached… and laid in. The frontispiece page is somewhat chipped around the edges, but the loss of material does not effect the illustration. All the rest of the illos are present. Bookplate to the front end paper. A couple of text pages have short tears. Overall, a solid and presentable example. No jacket. Illustrated by Parrish, Maxfield (illustrator).

There is a previous owner's inked name and date on the half title page. This copy includes 8 full page, full color illustrations by Maxfield Parrish. The dust jacket has several edge tears, nicks and small chips missing, especially to the front spine joint and top edge. The Book cover has a full size pictorial pastedown in fine condition and there is a rectangular pictorial pastedown on the front panel of the dust jacket as well (in Near Fine condition). This book can be dated to 1929 by the addition of Smoky - by Will James on the rear cover of the dust jacket and the lack of tissue guards to the illustrated plates. Illustrated by Maxfield Parrish (illustrator).

Some spotting and scuffs to the boards, and a scratch at the head of the illustration plate on the front board (crosse…s over the 'Of' in 'Poems of Childhood'. Fading to the spine. Pages VII through X have some complications with the original printing, the cut to the page folio on the edge slipped and cut across the face of the page with the original fold to cut still in tact. page 171 through 171 has the same issue only very near the head corner but otherwise was cut correctly.
