Un quindicennio di saggi, studi e interventi "dal vivo": la più estesa messe di dati, informazioni, analisi originali, sul tentato sviluppo e sul decadimento dell'università italiana a partire dagli anni '80. Anni di manbasse, anni corsari di favori e di cattedre. Una università, riserva oscura della sua società, affetta, con qualche sussulto, da una tarda paralisi flaccida, in cui i "maestri", non di rado pendolari e latitanti, si rivelano piuttosto abili modelli di servilismo e di sopruso, esempi di cooptazione mafiosa: un esercito di minimi Bokassa, eternamente bisognosi, suscettibili, ma sotto il velo spesso avidi di padrone e disponibili ad ogni scambio. Un ambiente in cui, con grande anticipo sui tempi, le opposizioni verbali (sinistra-destra, laici-cattolici) sono state riassorbite in alleanze trasversali di corporazione e di comodo, divenendo ormai fonte di allusioni ironiche da parte del resto della cultura europea. Una istituzione attraverso la quale il nostro sistema "balcanico" di potere organizza la diseducazione dei giovani, preparandoli alla società di riciclati che li ha attesi e li attende. Con un saggio di Franco Ferrarotti. Flavio Manieri è stato professore di Psicologia nelle università di Urbino, L'Aquila e Roma (La Sapienza), e visiting professor nelle università di Princeton e Yale. Attualmente insegna Psicologia dell'educazione nella III Università di Roma. E' autore di alcuni volumi e di un centinaio di saggi e lavori sperimentali d'argomento clinico, relativi all'immaginazione umana, ai suoi rapporti con i fenomeni formali, con i processi formativi e con i problemi della oralità e della scrittura. E' direttore dell'Italian Journal of Clinical and Cultural Psychology e condirettore di Psicologia e società. Già segretario generale dell'Aipur (l'Associazione fra professori universitari di ruolo) e direttore dello Iica (Istituto internazionale per il consumo e l'ambiente), presiede la Associazione per la difesa dei diritti civili nella scuola. Continua è stata la sua attenzione scientifica sul degrado istituzionale della nostra università.
