Containing the best means to cure coughs, colds, convulsions, chicken pox, scarlet fever, hooping cough, nettle rash, watery brain, and more childhood illnesses with somewhat outdated medical advice mostly utilizing Fennings' own products.

21cm. 20pp, 3 woodcut head-pieces. Original printed purple glazed-paper wraps, sewn. Wraps lightly soiled and rubbed. Title from cover. Fenning was based in West Cowes, I.O.W, and produced many versions of Every Mother's Book in its characteristic purple cover. Advice on curing ailments from Coughs to Watery Brain, testimonials and adverts for other Fennings products.

Contents included supposed cures for: Convulsions, Chicken Pox, Camphor Vapour, Gripes and Looseness, Hooping Cough, Mumps, Nettle Rash, Ringworm, Sore Eyes, Sore Nipples, Scarlet Fever, Scarlatina, Scald Head, Teething, Watery Brain, Worms, et al. Preceded by the 1856 Edition, this is the Revised Edition being published in 1891. Several very similar "new editions" exist, published at other times, with changes of advertisements, occasional updating of illustrations and some resetting of interior type. The covers are either purple or pink. Corresponds to OCLC #31882785. Rare in commerce in this condition, no Canadian institutional holdings at time of cataloguing. No detectable flaws, contents remain bright, clean, and unmarked; near fine.
