This is a travelogue by Samuel Hubbard Scudder (1837-1911), an American entomologist and paleontologist who specialized in the study of butterflies, grasshoppers, and insect paleontology. In this book, Scudder recounts his travels with an eclipse expedition in "Winnipeg Country." One of the central aims of the party was to view the total solar eclipse of July 18, 1860. The map in the back shows the approximate route that Scudder and the party took which traversed parts of Canada, "Dakota," and Minnesota. Scudder describes a variety of subjects including the viewing of the eclipse, interactions with Indigenous Peoples and other residents, local scenery, and trials and tribulations of the journey.

Softcover. Condition: gut. Auflage: 3 (1992). Von 1967 - 1969 war er "Instructor and Fellow" for Psychiatry and Medicine, University of Rochester, N.Y., bei George L. Engel.
