Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. [1983] FIRST EDITION. Brown hardcover with gilt lettering and dustjacket with brown and white repeating pattern, 73 pages including one blank page at end. Father Abraham is an early, unfinished novel by William Faulkner that laid the groundwork for what woul…d become his Snopes trilogy, beginning with The Hamlet (1940). Though not a complete work, it introduces Flem Snopes, a cunning and ambitious character who becomes central to Faulkner's exploration of greed, social mobility, and moral decay in the American South. It's a fascinating glimpse into Faulkner's evolving vision of Yoknapatawpha County and the corrosive influence of the Snopes family. This volume is reproduced from the elegant limited edition of 210 copies done by the Red Ozier Press, which "reproduces, with a minimum of editorial alteration, the text of the twenty-four-page holograph manuscript in the Arents Collection of the New York Public Library." Very collectible book. Condition: Overall, Fine condition, actually in gift-giving condition. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order.
