First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Printed in the U.S.A. [Date from the copyright page.] Footnotes, Endnotes, Introduction, Index; xiii, 320 pages. The deep-blue cloth remains attractive with gilt lettering quite bright on the spine. The interior is crisp and bright; however, there are numerous pencil marks left by my philosopher-father. The ochre-colored endpapers show a small removed price-sticker and a number stamped in one corner. The unclipped dust jacket shows a bit of wear, with some of the color pulled off at spine base. I suspect a review copy, from pencil comments on the front flap. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] This book "offers a systematic analysis of the tradition of modern epic poetry" with specific references to Pound's "Cantos," William Carlos Williams's "Paterson" and Charles Olson's "Maximus Poems." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.
