Add to basket242 S. Broschur. Gestempelt/Stamped. Veröffentlichungen des Walther-Schücking-Instituts für Internationales Recht an der Universität Kiel (VIIR) Band 203. Many fisheries management systems have individual rights at their basis but are not always successful. The question is what would have to change in fisheries law when community rights form the basis of management. Applying this idea globally, the principle of the common heritage of humankind could provide a future foundation. The principle incorporates intra- and intergenerational justice and has a clear biocentric component but is now only applicable to the ocean floor beyond national jurisdiction and to celestial bodies other than Earth. If this principle would also apply to highly migratory fish species like Atlantic bluefin tuna, not only an analysis of the applicable law but also of the principle s roots in environmental ethics, the economic consequences of such application and a comparison with the idea of public trusteeship provide helpful insights. It appears that the common heritage of humankind can enable both utilisation and preservation of natural resources. Sprache: englisch.

Add to basketTaschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - A stochastic process {X(t): 0 S t i}, i E S, are increasing (decreasing) with t on T. Stochastic monotonicity is a basic structural property for process behaviour. It gives rise to meaningful bounds for various quantities such as the moments of the process, and provides the mathematical groundwork for approximation algorithms. Obviously, stochastic monotonicity becomes a more tractable subject for analysis if the processes under consideration are such that stochastic mono tonicity on an inter val 0 t E implies stochastic monotonicity on the entire time axis. DALEY (1968) was the first to discuss a similar property in the context of discrete time Markov chains. Unfortunately, he called this property 'stochastic monotonicity', it is more appropriate, however, to speak of processes with monotone transition operators. KEILSON and KESTER (1977) have demonstrated the prevalence of this phenomenon in discrete and continuous time Markov processes. They (and others) have also given a necessary and sufficient condition for a (temporally homogeneous) Markov process to have monotone transition operators. Whether or not such processes will be stochas tically monotone as defined above, now depends on the initial state distribution. Conditions on this distribution for stochastic mono tonicity on the entire time axis to prevail were given too by KEILSON and KESTER (1977).

Paperback. Condition: New. There are over 800 neuromuscular disorders and this can leave clinicians feeling lost as they try to diagnose and manage patients. On the basis of 66 adult and paediatric neuromuscular case vignettes, readers will be walked through using case histories and clinical manifestations as a starting point for diagnosis. For each case, diagnostic tools, disease pathogenesis, prognosis and treatment options are discussed. Symptoms, signs and syndromes are cross-linked to help the reader navigate the array of disorders. Accompanying tables explain differential diagnoses and 30 videos demonstrate clinical features. This second edition has been thoroughly updated as the neuromuscular subspecialty has developed from clinically and pathologically descriptive to making use of new diagnostic technologies and therapies. Neurologists at all levels, paediatricians, internists, geneticists, rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists and researchers in the field will find this an invaluable guide, as they seek to familiarise themselves with this complex range of disorders.
