Add to basketCondition: Fine. The Folio Society, working with Cambridge University Press and the expert bindery of Lachenmaier produced a maximum of 2750 hand numbered copies of this facsimile of the original Golden Cockeral Press printing in 2007. This is number 273. The Four Gospels is bound in Nigerian goatskin leather. It is blocked in 2…4-caret gold with a design featuring Eric Gill's 4 symbols for Matthew, Mark, Luke and John supporting a blind-blocked frame. Gilding on all three book edges with a black satin ribbon marker. Printed on felt-marked, laid paper, in a special shade matched to the original paper, made at the Favini Mill near Venice. Endpapers of Merida Graphite from the Varone Mill. Presented in a buckram bound solander box with gold blocking on the spine. Also included is a Commentary Volume containing essays by John Dreyfus and Robert Gibbings. All of this is shown in the images attached of the actual copy for sale. The only minor thing that prevents me describing it as being 'as new' are the tiny edge indents on three of the edges as shown in image 8. Eric Gill (illustrator).
