Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. First edition in English. Large quarto. Pp. 151. A hard-to-find book on this eccentric Swiss 16th century graphic artist. With151 plates, all in black & white, of woodcuts, drawings, etchings, engravings, stained glass, designs for metalwork, bookbinding, and just one… painting, the only one attributed to him. He led a riotous life, and his figures are lusty. (Kenneth Clark, in his Preface, wrote "The animal quality of shameless self-abandonment is Urs Graf's most endearing characteristic"). Many of the woodcuts are white-on-black. Good to very good in orange linen boards, gilt. Dust jacket soiled and torn. Foxing to endpapers and prelims, including title, else internally fine.
