Not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm stereo vinyl record album, Columbia 9597, very-good vinyl (with some short scratches which cannot be felt to Side One) in a very-good-plus cardboard jacket, Produced by John Court. This 21 (or more) member biracial psychedelic jazz-rock ensemble, brought together by guitarist Mike Bloomfield in San Francisco under the management of Albert Grossman, debuted at Monterey Pop, proved popular with crowds, but failed to produce any memorable Top 40 "hits" (though Miles Davis did praise the Bloomfield-Barry Goldberg composition "Over-Lovin' You") and didn't last long, in part because Bloomfield reportedly attempted to medicate his insomnia with heroin, without much success. 19-year-old drummer Buddy Miles briefly took over leadership of the eclectic rock-blues-jazz ensemble after Bloomfield's departure, inevitably shifting the emphasis more towards Stax-influenced blues. The album credits are interesting, listing vocalist Nick Gravenites under "percussion" along with Richie Havens, who also gets a listing under "sitar.".
