Wraps, [16] pp (unpaginated); 28 cm; staple bound; printed throughout in a single brown ink, illustrated with 15 full-page photographic reproductions and a circular pen-and-ink map of the Olympic Peninsula on rear cover. In Good condition. Cream pictorial paper covers with light bumping and creasing to edges and corners, mild to moderate shelf wear, toning, sticker residue at upper corner of front cover, foxing along edges and light overall spotting and soiling. Binding tight, staples sound. Interior pages mildly toned with light foxing and spotting along edges, heavier toning to inside of front cover and heavier edge toning to final leaf. Otherwise unmarked. Photographs of the Quinault, Quileute, Makah and Klallam people of Washington's Olympic Peninsula from the collection of Bert Kellogg, dated 1879 to 1910. Whaling and sealing off Neah Bay and LaPush, halibut butchering on the beach, the thirty-foot salmon-drying racks on Tatoosh Island, basketry and canoe travel. Several negatives carry the photographers' captions and numbers in the plate, among them Samuel G. Morse, Indian agent at Neah Bay, McCurdy of Port Townsend, W. H. Wilcox and Samuel Curtis. An 1879 view of the Ozette village shows the wreck of the Greek ship Austria on the beach. A 1910 McCurdy portrait shows a Clallam man at an early telephone. Printed by Pen Print, Inc., Port Angeles; a revised issue followed from Peninsula Publishing in 1989.…
