With six halftone illustrations, including a frontispiece, adhered on one edge to tipped-in grey leaves with letter-pressed tissue guards. Cartographic endpapers. Publisher's blue cloth to boards, gilt titles, device, and rulings to upper and sp…ine. Interior bright and clean with a spot of foxing, mostly to endpapers and preliminaries. Ownership inscription in black ink to half-title, dated 1928. Top edge toned, the rest slightly spotted. Toning to spine. Some rubbing to joints. Minor bumping and wear to cloth extremities. A very good copy of the earliest edition. The narrative account of Thomas's long cycling/walking trip from London to the Quantock Hills in the spring of 1913. Ernest Haslehust's name misspelled as 'Hazelhurst' on the 'List of Illustrations' page.
