SIGNED limited edition numbered 23/210 On the Old West Coast Being Further Reminiscences of a Ranger- Major Horace Bell 1st ed edited by Lanier Bartlett (signed by him) 1930 published by William Morrow some slipcase wear, some spine wear, inside is clean tight and very good Horace Bell left Indiana to seek gold in California. He then went on to serve as a Ranger who pursued Joaquin Murietta, a soldier of fortune in Latin America and a Union officer in the Civil War. After the war he returned to Los Angeles and became a lawyer and a newspaper editor. He provides lively anecdotes of Los Angeles and its residents under Mexican and American rule, emphasizing cowboys and criminals and native Americans. Throughout, Bell gives special attention to the fate of Hispanic Californians and Native Americans under the United States regime. Signed by Author.
