One of 5,000 copies, this is the original narrative of the first Spanish entry into San Francisco Bay, 1775. With further details by participants in the first explorations of the Bay's waters, together with four contemporary maps and six illustrations in full colour from the brush and pencil of Louis Choris who was at San Francisco in 1816. This printing features the illustrations by Lewis Choris and two route maps at the end of the volume that illustrates the ocean routing of the 1775 voyage along the California coast and the dates where the ship put in to shore at various points along the coast.
