First edition thus (STS 4th Series, No.14). xxi, 264pp. The four pieces by King James VI of Scotland and I of Great Britain printed here are those of his prose writings which, after his 'Basilicon Doron', have most kept their interest to the present day. The first two, 'Daemonologie' and 'The True Lawe of Free Monarchies', were written while he was still King of Scotland only; the other two, 'A Counterblaste to Tobacco' and 'A Declaration of Sports', after he had become King of Great Britain and a resident in southern England. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition with bumping to the top of the spine, and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The book comes in a clear plastic wrapper, probably as issued.

Contains [xvi], 429 pp with 12 full-plate facsimile tissue guarded illuminated Medieval Manuscripts, and four pages of monochrome text illustrations. Company's presentation book plate inside the front cover presented to B. W. B. Sharpe, Dr. R. R. Sharpe is listed in the index, a little spotting to the end papers and in Very Good tight and sound condition.
