Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (First Published 1962). This is quite a book and it is in excellent condition. Pages ix through xxix cover List Of Illustrations, With Notes Thereon. There are 41 illustrations and each one is described with historical background over these…20 pages. This is a 496 page book, and it's pretty heavy, so to say that it is very well bound, which is the case, is to pay it high compliment. It is a quality book. As you can see from the photographs the dark blue covers are very clean and the gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. The level of wear is insignificant, the normal bend at the spine ends, and a little cloth fuzz at the two bottom corners, neither with any rub-through. The pages of the book are also in excellent condition. I didn't see any soiling (there are a few small light spots on the middle edge but that does not affect the pages themselves). There are no markings or writing/underlining anywhere. The illustrations/plates are in excellent condition. Nice glossy paper. No foxing. The only page imperfection is a trace of a line (not a crease) on the title page and a number of pages following it. It must have been caused by an object pressing against the pages. It wasn't enough to cause a crease but it did leave an impression. The Dust jacket is in quite decent condition. It's rated Good Plus. It is price-clipped at the front bottom flap. There is small loss at the spine ends and tears at the corners. Nevertheless, take a look at the photographs. It is in a protective cover and looks really good.
