Pictorial Wrappers. Condition: New. First Edition. 1st paperback printing, November 2018. Here are all eleven of his "Man Who Read" stories and seven of the Mr. Strangs. Includes a checklist of Brittain's mystery writings. It s been worth the wait. Sadly, Brittain later forsook mystery fiction to become a children s author, and his YA novel The Wish Giver earned him a Newbery Honor award. This collection was edited by Josh Pachter, who also wrote the introduction and compiled a bibliography of Brittain s many publications. Book. …

Some edge wear and slight creasing to top and bottom of jacket and spine, spine slightly faded, corners slightly bruised, not price clipped (no published price), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 448pp. Vera Brittain (1893-1970), won an exhibition to Somerville College, Oxford, in 1914, but a year later abandoned her studies to enlist as a VAD nurse. She served throughout the war, working in London, Malta and close to the Front in France. At the end of the war, with all of those closest to her dead, she returned to Oxford. Vera Brittain was a convinced pacifist, a prolific speaker, lecturer, journalist and writer, she devoted much of her energy to the causes of peace and feminism. She wrote 29 books in all, novels, poetry, biography and autobiography, but it was TESTAMENT OF YOUTH which established her reputation and made her one of the best loved writers of her time.
