A public competition was devised for an Address for the opening of the new Drury Lane Theatre in 1812, but in the end Byron supplied the Address delivered by Elliston. The Smith Brothers produced clever and amusing parodies in the style of major contemporary poets. The wrappers are dated 1873 and mention the authors' latest corrections and notes.
