Light rubbing at tips of spine, otherwise a bright, fine example. Bookplate on the front paste down. Inscription in pencil on second free endpaper, noting that this book…was purchased in 1897 at the dedication of the Grant Memorial in New York City. A bright example. This work was followed by three other volumes from Charles Coffin, including: Marching to Victory (1888), Redeeming the Republic (1889), and Freedom Triumphant (1890). The first edition of Drum-Beat was published in 1887 by Harper & Brothers. The second edition of Drum-Beat of the Nation by Charles Carleton Coffin, published in 1888. (illustrator).
