The book, wideranging and panoramic in content, seeks to intellectually confront the provocative question and explore, in the process, the highly elusive and controversial theme of democratic governance. About The Author: Dipankar Sinha is Reader in Political Science Calcutta University and Honorary Adjunct Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, Kolkata. His prime area of research is the communicative dimension of developmentgovernance interface. He has authored Communicating Development in the New World Order (1999), and (in Bengali) Media Sanskriti (2003). He has also coedited The Information, Communication and Technology: From Early to PostColonial India (2005). His essays have been published in edited volumes and journals from India and abroad.
