Norton was born Alice Mary Norton in 1912 but changed her name in 1934, to help sell her science fiction to a mainly male audience; she was the first woman inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame. The book is unmarked; age-toning to the pages; spine slanted and creased; a slight bend to the textblock; minor edgewear to the wraps; sleeve protected.

Hinges are cracked and weakened with some shaken pages on Norton's novel. A few pages have been taped in place. Binding is otherwise intact. Wraps are colorful with rubbed extremities and spine, corners are bumped and creased. Name penned on upper edge of Crossroads side. Some page edges are chipped. Creased corner on Mankind's cover is duct taped on internal side. Still, a solid reading copy.
