Quinby Company of Boston, MA. There was an edition in 25 volumes, produced between 1902 and 1904, with 1,000 of each volume printed by the Plimpton Press in Norwood, MA. The last few volumes may have been printed elsewhere, as there is no printer's name shown on the copyright page: Frederick J Quinby was frequently sued for unpaid bills, so Plimpton Press may have stopped working for him because of having difficulty in getting paid. Advance notice of this series, without any detail, appeared in Notes and News within the Saturday Review of Books and Art in the New York Times on February 1, 1902. There is variation in the binding of these 1,000 sets. Nos. 77 & 182 are red leather with marbled boards with decorative gilt spines, raised bands five compartments, top edge gilt, 'St. Louis Exposition Edition' at bottom of spine. Nos. 207 & 336 are green cloth with gilt titles on spine. No. 553 is red cloth with paper labels on spine: these labels state "Charles Paul de Kock Book Title Artists' Edition". Nos. 747 & 913 are red cloth with paper labels on spine: these labels simply state "Charles Paul de Kock Author's Edition", with black printed book title. " Pages untrimmed and at least partly unopened.
