Condition: Good. 1938. First Edition. 387 pages. No dust jacket. Pictorial cloth covered boards. Black and white photographs and diagrams. Presentation plate to front pastedown. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate to heavy shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners and crushing, fraying and slight tearing to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Black and white photographs. First edition. Previous owner's name and date on front free endpaper, else very good in a fair (shelf worn, long tears and mottling on rear panel) dust jacket.

Approached by choosing a different category of chemicals for each chapter to summarise the evolution of the commercial processes for its production. Typical chapters cover salt, industrial gases, explosives, sulphur and so on, sixteen in all. Dustwrapper complete, clean and sound save several small edge splits and light wear to spine ends. Cloth clean and bright. Previous owners name below wrapper inside sleev and on front endpaper. Contents clean and tight. Nice copy, scarce in this condition. Near fine in VG dustwrapper.
