He uncovered its history and archaeology going back to the eleventh century, through Tudor times and the English Civil War, to the present. And So to Wed was his only venture into playwriting and was at the instigation of his second wife Olga whom he married in 1946. As well as the play itself there are 4 chapters on marriage, and divorce.
