Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Limited Edition. An amazing large, hardback book, green leather bound, with gilt title & crest impressions, both on the front and spine and gilt finish to edge of papers. Comes with gorgeous green leather, matching box, slipcase. The book is in fabulous condition, with amazing colour photographic images of some of the world's most famous political leaders and a stunning image of Princess Diana. Normal wear and marks apply consistent with use and age. Small wear and mark to top gilt edge of papers. Some of the pages have over a period of unused time, stuck together, and where they have been separated they have left a small wear/tear mark, hardly noticeable, but its important to mention, but any mark is on the white part of the page and does not impact the wonderful images, or the beauty of the book, or use of the book. Black pen and ink inscription on blank page (reverse of title page) which indicates the signature of AZLAN dated 02/09/98. 292 + pages, all intact, nice tight binding, all pages, text and stunning illustrations are in wonderful, clean, readable order. - "ON 26TH APRIL 1989, SULTAN AZLAN MUHIBBUDDIN SHAH IBNI-AL-MARHUM SULTAN YUSUF IZZUDDIN SHAH OF PERAK WAS SWORN-IN AS THE 9TH KING OF MALAYSIA. THE NATION COULD NOT HAVE HOPED FOR A BETTER KING. ALTHOUGH FEW, IF ANY, MANY YEARS EARLIER, HAD ENVISIONED THAT HE WOULD ONE DAY BE A RULER, NONE DENIED THAT HE WAS DESTINED TO BE A KING. THIS IS A PICTORIAL RECORD OF HIS ASCENSION TO THE THRONE OF PERAK AND HIS YEARS AS THE SERI PADUKA BAGINDA YANG DI-PERTUAN AGONG". - "Perak, one of the older of the Peninsular Malay kingdoms, is not surprisingly rich in tradition. The installation of the Sultan of Perak, an institution established in about 1528 is, therefore, an elaborate affair. Ancient rituals were, in later years, intermingled with ceremonies based on British tradition when the state came under British protection as a result of the Pangkor Treaty of 1874. New elements incorporated into the formal installation of the ruler included the oath taking ceremony, a military salute, the attendance of a guard of honour as well as a military band, and a royal banquet at the palace. Please do ask if you require more information on the book or more photos. In my humble opinion this book is a work of art, some of the photographs are quite amazing, not only in a photographic way, but in a social, political and historical period, capturing stunning images of political leaders together, from all around the world. This is a limited edition book that has been really well put together and should definitely be preserved for future generations and political & historical cataloguing. Its probably quite a rare book, that may only be in certain privileged homes.
