Add to basketQuite poor condition. i-x, 11-456 pages. Hardcover: H 18.25cm x L 12cm. Brown cloth spine frayed at ends and with tape repairs lengthwise along both joints; boards so rubbed as no printing is legible, tape repairs along board margins, board edges are worn particularly at corners and have surface paper loss. Spine cocked; tape repairs to front and rear hinges. Binding shaken between pages iv-v; obtrusive ink writing and some blotting to front endpapers with the former obscuring the concluding "Miss." in a four-line ink stamp at top of front free endpaper "From | D.O. Semmes, | Druggist, | Grenada, Miss." Pencil calculations and ink writing on rear endpapers; interior pages marred by toning, foxing, and pencil and ink writing; first three leaves (ffep, title leaf i-ii, and iii-iv) chipped at their top fore-edge corners. Sold as is with its redeeming quality being the presence of a scarce late 19th century Grenada, Mississippi bookseller stamp. OCLC attributes book's authorship to Horatio N. Robinson although his surname only appears upon title as "Robinson's Mathematical Series" with editor Daniel W. Fish's name prominently printed towards bottom of page.

Add to basketFront board title: "Robinson's Mathematical Series. The Rudiments of Written Arithmetic for Graded Schools." (abbreviated from official title upon title page). i-vi, 7-200 pages. Hardcover: H 17.25cm x L 11.5cm. Original quarter binding (black pebbled faux leather spine with paper over cardstock boards); spine ends worn with slender 2cm loss at head of front joint, abrasion and surface loss to faux leather (in essence some thin veneer polished cloth imitating a leather appearance) along the overlaps to boards; both boards' surface paper heavily rubbed with peeling and abrasion causing loss to lettering and/or decoration, wear along edges particularly at corners, moisture stain near top of front board. Toning to text block edges with original marbling heavily faded. Some foxing and toning throughout; strong crease to bottom corner of front flyleaf; pages 15-40 have chipping and/or creasing at bottom fore-edge corners. Binding is firm. Scarce contemporary (late 19th century) bookseller ink stamp "Harvy & Roby | Kosciusko, Miss." near center of front free endpaper. Harvy & Roby was a Kosciusko, Mississippi drug store and bookshop (and undoubtedly retailing other items too) operating from the late 1800s to its dissolution in 1902. A good copy.
