Isabel Langis Cusack seems to have written just two children's books and it's the other one ("Ivan the Great", 1978) that is the more successful. But this book is interesting - especially if you're interested in pigeon racing. A young boy, struck mute by a trauma when a toddler, takes a life-changing interest in racing pigeons. The illustrator was winner of the 1987 Caldecott Medal and here contributes five full page drawings. The gutters of the endpapers are just a tad browned, otherwise a fine copy in very good, slightly browned dust jacket with edge nicks and a ½" chip from base of rear flap.
