Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Inscribed and signed by the subject of the book, Bruce C. Clarke, and his wife, Bessie on the first free end page. The book has sound hinges and does not lean. Pages are clean without creases, marks, stains or wrinkles. Exterior covers and spine are compl…etely clean. There is dust soiling on the top of the book (outer page edges). There is a little wear to the top edge of the spine including a few tiny tears. The book's dust jacket is not price-clipped and shows very little soiling but has significant rubbing and many stress lines, creases, chips and tears. (Note: Photos may show a flash reflection.) Clausen from General Bruce C. Clarke (whom this book is about) on front endpaper. Clausen was the author of the Clausen Report, an 800-page report on… the Army Board's Pearl Harbor Investigation. Clarke was a United States Army General. He was a career officer who served in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. He was the commander of Continental Army Command from 1958-1960, Commander, U.S. Army Europe from 1960-1962, and commanded the U.S. Army, Pacific from December 1954 to April 1956. Both Clausen and Clarke were 33rd degree Freemasons. Also includes laid-in letter from Clausen to Clarke, thanking Clarke for the book and for his warm words in the inscription. Letter is dated October 1, 1974. Inscription is dated 1974. Shelfwear to DJ: light scuffing along edges and covers, light spine fade, jacket price unclipped. DJ in mylar. Some light foxing along outer page edges. Tightly bound, no marks. Volume is in Very Good condition. Gift inscription reads: "To Sovereign commander Henry C. Clausen, Supreme Council 33rd, Southern Jurisdiction. Guardian of the great masonic ideals of Patriotism, Religion, Ethics, Integrity, morals, brotherhood and charity; based upon Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. With deep admiration and best regards, Bruce C. Clarke, 33rd, G.C.".
